The alert comes with Environment Canada forecasting lows of -13 today and -15 tomorrow with wind chill. The region said it is working with emergency housing, seasonal shelters and community organizations to help residents stay safe and warm.

Both the Ray Twinney Recreation Complex at 100 Eagle St. West and Magna Centre at 800 Mulock Drive will be open as warming centres during regular hours of operation, 5:30 a.m. to 11 p.m.
