Construct provides comprehensive 8-week skills training to vulnerable job seekers facing barriers to employment. The program includes in-class training, on-the-job work experience, various wraparound supports, and direct connections to employment to help vulnerable individuals secure long-term, well-paying jobs in the trades.

Construct is a real solution to unemployment and ending homelessness. By connecting people to career paths, breaking down barriers to meaningful employment, and leading people to affordable housing, Construct lifts people out of poverty and into an opportunity. Construct is designed to help breakdown barriers to employment and provide direct connections to employment opportunities and careers. We will train and mentor you every step of the way, equipping you with the necessary skills to succeed in both your personal and professional lives.

Construct is a solution at the intersection of two challenges; growing demand for skilled employees in the construction industry and vulnerable low-income individuals need low barrier jobs and a higher income to achieve housing stability

Construct, trains and employs motivated individuals to learn and work on-site with qualified trades people to prepare for a career in the construction industry. Construct works to meet your construction needs with integrity, innovation and sustainability within a framework of inclusivity, diversity and opportunity.

Powered by The Home Depot Canada Foundation, TradeWorx is a collaboration of 10 successful Canadian employment social enterprises (ESEs) helping bridge systemic gaps and prevent youth homelessness. TradeWorx partners provide youth at-risk of homelessness with the skills training needed to secure a long-term well-paying career in the trades, resulting in the ability to afford/retain housing.

Different from traditional employment training programs, employment social enterprises provide extensive wraparound supports throughout the program to address barriers and challenges faced that threatens to propel the youth into homelessness.

Darnell’s Story

I was homeless and unemployed before I got into the program. What I learned from Construct has taken my life to the next step … I received numerous offers for work because it stood out on my resume, and I am forever grateful for that…I wouldn’t have wanted to miss the opportunity for the world.

Matt’s Story

At Construct, I had a supportive environment. I learned crucial life skills like accountability, punctuality, and confidence as well as technical skills and experience needed to land a career in construction. Just two years after being at my lowest point, I am a completely different person thanks to Blue Door and Construct. I have such pride in the person I have grown into, and how much I have developed as a trades professional. I now have a full-time job, and my own car, and I am hoping to find a place for myself very soon.

Marina’s Story

At Construct, not only did I get certifications and learn hands-on skills at LiUNA Local 506, I was supported throughout the program with transportation, groceries, and psychotherapy. Being at Construct gave me a feeling of accomplishment and motivation to keep going.

Construct connected me to a career that provides good benefits, a livable salary, and stable employment. Now, I am a first-year apprentice with the Carpenters Union, I have a full-time job, and I can proudly support my family.
