Lip Sync Battle for Victim Services of York Region: Victim Services of York Region is hosting a special Lip Sync Battle fundraiser at Aurora Town Square, 50 Victoria St., from 6 to 9 pm. Participants include local business leaders and residents who will take the stage to perform their favourite songs in a spirited lip-sync battle. Attendees can expect an evening of laughter, entertainment, and heartfelt performances to help provide immediate support and assistance to individuals affected by crime and tragic circumstances. Aurora National Day for Truth and Reconciliation: Reflecting upon the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, Mohawk-Ojibwe artist Sharon Rigby shares the stories of Indigenous individuals impacted by the residential school system and the Sixties scoop through a series of hand-crafted ribbon skirts. The exhibition begins in Lower Hall Gallery at noon with a reception and artist talk and extends to multiple sites across Aurora Town Square, 50 Victoria St., including Live music with Red N Blue from 2 to 3:30 p.m.

Local chefs and businesses will showcase their best soups, and you get to taste, enjoy, and vote for your favourites. With a cozy fall festival atmosphere, prizes for the top soups, and entertainment throughout the day, this is an event for the whole family with all proceeds going to Blue Door, in support of their essential work providing shelter, housing, and support services to those experiencing homelessness in our community.

Asian Harmony Festival, Sunday, Sept. 28: A pan-Asian festival featuring art exhibits, traditional dances and music, and giveaways is coming to NewRoads Performing Arts Centre organized by the Toronto Cultural Mingle Association’s Newmarket chapter. A “cultural experience” and social gathering will start at 12:30 p.m., while performers will take the stage at 1:30 p.m. Admission is free.

Newmarket ArtWalk, Oct. 3 to 4: Newmarket Group of Artists hosts its 17th annual ArtWalk featuring 43 artists of diverse disciplines at 11 venues around Newmarket’s beautiful, historic downtown Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Event includes a blend of established local artists, fresh talent and visiting artists working in a wide range of media, including jewelry, mixed media, ceramics, painting, photography, textiles and more.
Oktoberfest Newmarket: Prost on Main Street, Saturday, Oct. 4: Main Street will transform into a Bavarian-inspired experience where guests will enjoy a Sip & Savour Ale Trail. Tickets include exclusive access to participating venues for one half-pint of beer, one Bavarian food sampler, Oktoberfest-themed food and drink specials, and prize draws.
