Thousands of surgical masks and hundreds of litres of hand sanitizer were donated
Electric bus company BYD Canada donated thousands of surgical masks and hundreds of litres of hand sanitizer to Kevin’s Place youth shelter and the Town of Newmarket today.
The Newmarket-based firm provided the shelter on Gorham Street and the town each with a gift of close to 5,000 masks and 260 bottles of sanitizer.
The PPE donation to the town is intended for use in programs provided to the community, according to BYD, and was accepted by Newmarket Mayor John Taylor and CAO Jag Sharma.
Deputy Premier, Health Minister and Newmarket-Aurora MPP Christine Elliott was on hand for the donations from BYD, which was represented by Tiger Zhou, factory director, Nicholas He, business development director, and Jennifer Jin, operation manager.
Emmy Kelly, Blue Door’s acting CEO, and board directors Alex Cheng and Karen Al Massaad welcomed the donation to the homeless shelter.
