About Blue Door

With a vision of creating a region where everyone has safe, affordable, and supportive housing, Blue Door aims to address the root causes of homelessness through life-saving programs focused on three strategic priorities: housing, health, and employment.

Blue Door’s services include:

  • Emergency housing for men, male youth, and families
  • Seasonal emergency housing for adults and youth
  • Transitional housing for adults, families, senior men, and the first housing in York Region for 2SLGBTQ+ youth
  • Housing retention
  • Health supports including an on-site nurse and hospital in-reach worker
  • Employment preparation and trades training through Blue Door’s social enterprise called Construct

Stay tuned for several new announcements including the development of York Region’s first Affordable Housing Land Trust, a research pilot project called Housing First for Youth with Income Assistance, and DWELL, and innovative program providing a pathway from homelessness to homeownership.

About Construct

Construct- A Social Enterprise by Blue Door provides 8-week paid skills training, hands-on experience, and wraparound support to help vulnerable individuals secure well-paying careers in the construction trades.

Construct’s general labour services are available for hire and provide the opportunity for trainees to learn alongside experts. A busy spring, Construct completed painting and apartment turnovers as Hesperus Village, landscaping at Community Living, and are now finishing basement and kitchen renovations in Newmarket.

Invest in your community by hiring Construct for your next renovation project.
