Hyundai Canada once again took to the ice in York Region of Ontario, marking its fourth consecutive appearance at the Hockey Helps the Homeless tournament and raising more than $13,500 for local homelessness support.

The event brought together Hyundai Auto Canada’s president and CEO, its chief operating officer and employees from across the organization, alongside partners including Hyundai Motor Finance, PBS Systems Inc., Kanvas Studio Inc., Keyloop, Shell Canada and the Bank of Nova Scotia. The annual tournament paired amateur players with former NHL players and Olympians, combining fundraising with a uniquely Canadian passion for hockey.

“Hockey Helps the Homeless is an incredible initiative that brings together our employees, our partners and vendors to face off against homelessness,” said Steve Flamand, president and CEO of Hyundai Auto Canada, in a statement. “It’s a powerful way to close out the year, uniting through our shared love of hockey to make a real difference.”

Funds raised from the York Region tournament directly supported 360°kids, which provides services to youth in crisis, and Blue Door, an organization focused on creating pathways to stable housing. Hyundai Canada has maintained a long-standing relationship with 360°kids and also participates annually in its 360°Experience Challenge, a separate initiative aimed at raising awareness and funds to combat youth homelessness.

Since first joining the tournament four years ago, Hyundai Canada and its partners have now contributed more than $57,500 toward homelessness initiatives in York Region. Hockey Helps the Homeless has been running Pro-Am tournaments across Canada since 1996, using the events to fund emergency shelter, transitional housing, mentorship programs and other frontline services delivered through local agencies.
