Blue Door Shelters is getting a name change.
Effective Friday, June 26, 2020, Blue Door Shelters will be publicly changed to Blue Door Support Services, operating as “Blue Door”.
Removing the word “shelters” from their name reflects their continued work to de-stigmatize homelessness and focus on housing. Blue Door will continue to provide housing supports and services to the people of York Region, as it has done tirelessly for the past 38 years.
“The choice to make this change reflects our continued passion to grow and develop in order to provide the best possible services,” read a statement from the organization.
“We will continue to run our emergency housing sites for men, families, and youth, as well as our Housing to Health program, while also introducing new programs focused on housing in the next three years.”
Along with the name change, Blue Door will undergo a soft-rebrand, including a new logo and fresh look on their website and social media channels.
