Hockey Helps the Homeless announced a pledge to raise 1 million dollars to support Blue Door in the redevelopment of much needed deeply affordable and supportive housing. This historic gift will enable Blue Door to add new units of housing to help house the over 500 people they work with to find housing each year.

The national charity Hockey Helps the Homeless first teamed up with Blue Door, York Region’s largest emergency housing provider in 2020 choosing to support Blue Door as a beneficiary of their York Region tournament alongside 360 kids.

The Hockey Helps the Homeless York Region Pro-Am tournament is where the organization first started 26 years ago, raising money for non-profits eradicating homelessness.

“We are so grateful to Hockey Helps the Homeless for this incredible support of York Region’s most vulnerable.” said Michael Braithwaite, CEO of Blue Door. “They continue to be champions of people experiencing homelessness across Canada in a time where champions have never been needed more.”
