In a heartwarming display of community spirit, over 100 employees from Alectra joined forces with their neighbourhoods to participate in the annual Coldest Night of the Year walk despite chilly temperatures.

Their collective efforts resulted in a generous donation of over $25,000 to support vital services for individuals in need of food and shelter.

Brian Bentz, President and CEO of Alectra Inc., expressed gratitude for the opportunity to positively impact the communities they serve through their participation in the event. He emphasized the importance of raising funds to assist those experiencing homelessness and providing essential aid to those facing hardship, contributing to a brighter future for all.

Alectra has steadfastly supported the Coldest Night of the Year initiative through employee engagement and as a lead sponsor for organizations such as The Dam in Mississauga, Regeneration Outreach in Brampton, and Blue Door in Richmond Hill. This year’s fundraising efforts saw Alectra employees from various locations, including St. Catharines, Brampton, Guelph, Hamilton, Markham, Mississauga, Richmond Hill, and Vaughan, coming together to combat homelessness.

Jim Heuving from the Bluesea Foundation commended Alectra’s dedication, highlighting the involvement of 107 Alectra members in sponsoring and forming fundraising teams. Their collective endeavours resulted in nearly $30,000 raised for seven local charities addressing hunger, hurt, and homelessness. He emphasized the importance of such initiatives in inspiring others to join the cause, reinforcing the message of solidarity in facing societal challenges.

The 2024 Coldest Night of the Year event has amassed a staggering $13,442,589, with 40,397 walkers participating nationwide to support those in need.
