Construct is a social enterprise by Blue Door, providing residential and commercial construction and property services to clients from across the public and private sectors in the Greater Toronto Area. More than a business with a heart, Construct is a real solution to ending homelessness. Through 8-weeks of paid employment training, Construct provides in-class training, on-the-job work experience, and wraparound supports to help vulnerable individuals secure long-term , well-paying careers in the construction trades.
This month, Construct is celebrating the graduation of their 17th cohort! Thanks to the partnership with the YMCA, Construct has seen approximately 90% of graduates move into employment or education. Upon graduating , one of our trainees shares, “I learned a ton I didn’t know before and it gets you ready to enter the workforce by having knowledge and certifications to get you going, I am thankful and happy I entered the program”.
By connecting people to career paths, breaking down barriers to meaningful employment, and leading them to affordable housing, Construct will life people out of poverty and into opportunity.
